Smoke Filled the basement of this home round 1:20am. It was caused by a lit candle in the basement which ignited a bookshelf. The residents were sleeping when smoke filled the entire house. Their smoke detectors went off which awoke them. They grabbed their cell phone and evacuated the house. They contacted the fire department who came out and put the fire out. The home sufferred mostly smoke damage. The Fire marshal wanted to stress the importance of having working smoke detectors.
Now you all know what I am going to say....Home Alarm System would have been better why because the key was they had to grab their cell phone and call the fire dept. If they had a home alarm the smoke detectors woul dhave gone off and the system woul dhav enotified the fire department...saving alot more than they did.
